R&D Update: New Lightweight PU Foam Gun Series Passes Durability Cycle Testing

Background of the New Lightweight Applicator Project

Construction contractors and hardware distributors have raised consistent demand for foam guns that balance light weight and long service life. Heavy traditional metal guns bring fatigue for workers who carry out continuous window insulation, curtain wall sealing and pipeline hole filling jobs. The Volcano R&D team launched the lightweight foam gun development project based on these field feedbacks from European construction clients.

Material Selection and Durability Verification

The R&D group tested multiple reinforced composite alloys for the gun housing, while retaining all-metal precision valve assemblies that directly contact PU foam. Hundreds of prototype units went through continuous cycle testing: repeated foam extrusion, high-pressure cleaning and temperature cycling from low winter ambient conditions to hot outdoor construction environments. The test tracked leakage risk, trigger smoothness and valve sealing performance after thousands of working cycles.

Matching Application Scenarios

This new series targets typical jobs: window insulation filling, indoor sanitary sealing, pipeline penetration sealing and curtain wall facade caulking. The lighter body reduces operator fatigue during long shifts, while the internal valve structure maintains stable foam output control, avoiding uneven expansion or dripping foam that wastes material. It is suitable for both professional construction crews and hardware retail distribution.

Market Launch Plan

The new lightweight foam gun line will be available for OEM branding for existing brand partners first, before opening for general hardware importer orders. All finished units follow the same inspection standards applied to Volcano’s industrial-grade foam guns. The technical team will publish operation and maintenance guides to help distributors train local construction end-users.
