Case Study: Custom Grouting Gun Design for High-Viscosity Cement Grout Projects

The Challenge of High-Viscosity Grouting Construction

One European construction materials partner contacted Volcano Machinery with a special requirement: standard manual grouting guns could not steadily push high-viscosity cement-based grout for foundation reinforcement and crack repair. Ordinary applicators suffered slow feeding, frequent blockages and inconsistent output pressure, slowing down repair work on old buildings and concrete infrastructure. The customer needed a customized grouting gun that could handle thick grout without frequent disassembly for cleaning.

Developing the Custom Grouting Gun Configuration

Volcano’s engineering team reviewed the rheology data of the customer’s grout material, construction pressure range and the operators’ working habits. They modified the inner feeding channel, enlarged the inlet port and optimized the push rod structure. Multiple prototype versions were produced and tested with the actual grout sample provided by the client. The team also adjusted the sealing ring formula to resist abrasion from cement particles.

On-Site Trial and Process Adjustment

Field trials were arranged at a concrete repair site. The first prototype improved flow performance, but still had minor residue buildup inside the barrel after long continuous use. The engineers adjusted the inner surface polishing process and added a quick-release nozzle design. After revision, operators could disassemble and rinse the gun much faster between batches of grout. The modified gun delivered stable and controllable grout injection speed.

Key Takeaways from This Custom Project

This case proves that construction applicator design must match the physical property of the filling material, not only rely on universal standard tool structures. For special materials like high-viscosity cement grout, early material sample testing and on-site trial runs are essential. Volcano now adds this custom grouting gun to its special product catalog, available for other infrastructure repair clients with similar demands.
